Delicious Fun With Pizza

Here is a article that brings to light some idea’s that many people probably never thought of.
First lets compare two types of prepared food, … a hamburger and its option, and a pizza and its options.
These two meals are very similar, but only look different. Lets talk about this.
The Hamburger
The bun: Which comes from the bakery\bread category.
The ketchup: This is a product of the tomato category.
The cheese: Hamburgers use as much as three different types of cheese.
The meat: Hamburger, bacon, mushrooms and chicken (on chicken burgers).
Other things found on hamburgers depending on the way you order it or where you by it are, …
Onions, pickles, lettuce, garlic, mustard and tomato’s just to name the more popular options.
The Pizza
The crust: Which comes from the bakery\bread category.
The sauce: This is a product of the tomato category.
The cheese: which can include different cheeses.
The meat: Which can include hamburger, pepperoni, ham and more.
As you can see for yourself the two meals are extremely similar, in fact not very different at all. The only thing different about them is the way they look. One is a sandwich, and the other is a pie. Truthfully your stomach probably wouldn’t know the difference because the ingredients from both meals are very similar.
Between the two meals above, … I would have to say the pizza is the Cadillac of the two because you can do more with a pizza.
Here is where the fun idea’s start with the pizza.
Everyone knows about the pizza basic toppings which include olives, shrimp, onions, hamburger, ham, pepperoni, cheeses, sausage, anchovies and more.
You can add additional toppings of your choice on pizza you make at home or add them to pre-made pizza’s that you bought at a grocery store.
First I would like to point out one topping that hit it off really big with me. PICKLES!
That’s right ‘pickles’! As far out as it sounds, … it’s really not. And tastes great. The key of coarse is using the right pickles. When you’re at the grocery store, buy the pickles labeled ‘hamburger slices’. These are the same pickles used on hamburgers. (remember our comparison above). These pre-sliced pickles are about the size of a quarter and I usually space several over the top of the pizza the same way the pepperoni is spaced.
You can cook them with the pizza or put them on afterwards (I’ve done both).
Another excellent addition to a pizza is ‘whole kernel corn’. I usually buy tiny cans of whole kernel corn to do this. I sprinkle the kernels over the pizza without overdoing it. The extra unused corn is put in a plastic container and refrigerated for next time.
Another big hit with me and my pizza’s is ‘chicken’.
I know these sound far out,… but don’t knock it until you try it. These are some great pizza’s.
How many of you have seen the shredded boneless canned chicken that comes in a can the size of a tuna can? This is the chicken I use. One can of this chicken can do 2 or 3 pizza’s.
As for the pickle idea, … I’ve only found one pizza place in Wisconsin that offers this on their menu, … they are in Appleton and when I jokingly asked the waitress why they stole my idea, she responded with a giggle saying they actually sell a lot of those.
