Internet Crimes

As the internet becomes bigger and bigger, … more and more internet criminals are out there. Spam is unpleasant and unwanted. The same goes for the unwanted porn that is out there. Nothing is more disappointing than using the internet for functional purposes, and then all of a sudden some unwanted picture or ad pops up in your face. This shouldn’t be.
People who write computer viruses eventually end up getting arrested by the Fed’s, but there are a lot of them out there.
Other internet crimes happen in ways you may not think of. Hacking, mauling and slandering are just a few other types of internet crimes.
Lets use a example:
As a simple example lets say I wanted to change my last name to ‘Colt’. Someone who knows me and wants to bring me harm that has the ability to do so, … would access or hack into a County, State or other Government website and make a false entry under that name I wanted, just to make things difficult for me and\or make me look bad. This is a crime. To the person doing this crime, … congratulations, you just committed a Federal offense. It doesn’t make any difference if you did it yourself or if you had someone else do it for you. Some people who do these things don’t realize that everything they do is irreversible traceable to their computer and any unauthorized changes you make on government websites gets put on computer disks and printed out before it is removed from the site in corrective measures.
Other crimes with County, State and other Government websites may include breaching privacy laws. This is when a person finds information on a government website about someone and then links this information to the public by putting it in google, yahoo or any other search engines on the internet. Again, another Federal offense. Government websites do not belong to private people. A private person has no right to connect search engines to government web pages or data. If the government agency in question wants their data run through search engines, the government agency will do it themselves.
Mauling the net and/or websites: People who knock entire websites off search engines or off the internet entirely are criminals. If you knock a website off a search engine or the internet and you are not the legal owner of the website, … congratulations, you just committed a Federal offence.
Viruses: Believe it or not there are people out there that have nothing better to do than write virus infections and spread them around the internet just to hurt people and property. This too is a Federal offence.
The internet is the territory of Federal law enforcement because it crosses State and national borders. If you do or have done any of the above things, you’re in trouble. Just because the Fed’s haven’t knocked on your door yet, … doesn’t mean you’re not being watched. The Fed’s are known for working like this. They may watch someone for weeks, months, or years before they make the arrest.
Have you ever heard the phrase “just play dumb, and give them enough rope to hang themselves.”
When you think about it, there is another phrase that makes just as much sense.
“There is no such thing as a smart criminal.”
